Is Deepcar Dental Care taking new patients?
Yes, Deepcar Dental Care is taking new patients, adults and children, and a first appointment is usually available within a few days.
Children are welcome from any age, and we usually suggest a first visit by 3. A child's first visit is just a look and a chat, with no treatment. NHS guidance is to take a child to the dentist when their first milk teeth appear, or before 12 months old, so an earlier visit is welcome too. Read more about dental care for children.
If you are choosing between practices, you can read what patients say about Deepcar Dental Care before you book.
How do you register with a dentist?
Registering with a dentist means joining a dental practice as a patient. At Deepcar Dental Care, your first appointment as a new patient is a new patient examination with one of our dentists.
Check-ups and other everyday care are covered on our page about routine dental care at our practice.
What should you bring to your first appointment?
When you register as a new patient, bring a list of the medicines you take to your first appointment at Deepcar Dental Care. The dentist needs an up-to-date picture of your general health, and the list is part of it.
NHS guidance on check-ups says the dentist asks about your general health and any problems since your last visit. The General Dental Council's standards also require dental professionals to keep complete and accurate records, including an up-to-date medical history, each time they treat patients. At Deepcar Dental Care, you can complete your medical history online before the visit.
Book your new patient appointment online or call 0114 288 2121.
What happens at your first dental appointment, step by step?
Your first appointment is the new patient examination, and you can prepare for it before the day. For an adult new patient at Deepcar Dental Care, the steps from booking to the examination include:
- Book online through the booking portal, or call 0114 288 2121.
- If you wish, complete your medical history online before the visit.
- On the day, bring your list of medicines and see one of our dentists for your new patient examination.
- Your gums are screened with a Basic Periodontal Examination (BPE), which is part of every examination at the practice.
For what a check-up generally involves, see our page on what happens at a dental check-up.
How long does a new patient appointment take?
A new patient appointment at Deepcar Dental Care takes 30 minutes, the same length as a routine check-up at the practice.
If you feel anxious about dental treatment, longer appointment slots can be booked, quiet appointment times are available on request and you can bring someone into the room with you. An anxious patient's first visit can also be one where nothing is done except talking, and a stop signal is agreed before any treatment starts.
What does a new patient appointment cost?
A new patient examination at Deepcar Dental Care is £39 on the current new patient offer, usually £85. The fee list gives the offer as one per person, for anyone new to the practice.
On the same fee list, the line for a Child's New Patient Examination is from £39 and a routine patient examination is from £63. The fee list states that fees are the same from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.

No. At Deepcar Dental Care you can book a hygiene appointment without registering as a patient and without seeing a dentist first. You book directly with our dental therapist, online through the booking portal. You can read more about hygiene appointments.
What should I do if I am in pain before my first appointment?
With toothache, swelling or a broken tooth, call 0114 288 2121 for an emergency appointment, from £30 excluding treatment.
