Chapeltown, Ecclesfield, High Green and Grenoside have a good spread of dental practices, most of them mixed NHS and private, and several list implants among their treatments. Read the pages closely and the implant work is often done by a dentist who visits on certain days, the prices are not published, and the process is sketched in three lines. Seasonal offers of a few hundred pounds off come and go. Head into Sheffield and the city clinics quote £3,000 to £4,000 for a single implant, often after a "free consultation" that lasts fifteen minutes and ends with a brochure.
Deepcar Dental Care is a quarter of an hour over the hill in the other direction, in Deepcar on the A6102 between Oughtibridge and Stocksbridge. The consultation here costs £100, takes up to an hour, is with the dentist who will do the surgery, Dr Ibraheem Ijaz, and includes a CBCT scan in the building rather than a referral for one elsewhere. The £100 comes off your treatment if you go ahead. Dr Ijaz has placed more than 200 implants since 2022, the practice has a 5.0 rating from over 400 Google reviews, and it is open 8am to 8pm seven days a week.
You complete a medical history online or at reception. Bring a list of your medicines, particularly anything for bones, blood thinning or diabetes, because those change the plan more than anything else.
Dr Ijaz asks what is bothering you and what you are hoping for. Someone who wants to eat an apple again and someone who wants a front tooth nobody can spot are planning different treatments. If you have had a quote elsewhere, this is the time to put it on the table.
He looks at the gap and the teeth either side, measures the gum pockets around neighbouring teeth for signs of gum disease, checks how your teeth meet and how wide you can open, and takes photographs. If a tooth is still there and failing, he looks at whether it can be saved, because a root canal or a crown is sometimes the better answer and it is our job to say so.
If an implant looks likely, a CBCT scan is taken there and then. You stand still for about twenty seconds while the machine circles your head, and the result is a 3D image of the jaw that measures bone to a fraction of a millimetre. In the lower jaw it shows the canal carrying the nerve to your lip and chin, which the implant has to stay 2 mm clear of; in the upper jaw it shows how close the sinus floor sits. The scan is £150 and you see it on the screen.

You leave with, or are emailed within a day or two, a plan that lists each stage, its price, the timeline, the implant system, and the risks that apply to you. There is no deposit and nobody rings you to chase. When you book treatment, the £100 is deducted.

From Chapeltown or Ecclesfield, go up through Grenoside and down the hill into Oughtibridge, then turn onto the A6102 Manchester Road towards Stocksbridge; the practice is at number 334 on the Deepcar side of Oughtibridge, with free parking directly outside. About 15 minutes. From High Green the road through Wortley and down into Deepcar is quicker still. The alternative is the A61 to Hillsborough and then the A6102 up the valley, which is slower but avoids the hill in icy weather. Chapeltown railway station is the closest station to the practice, and Stagecoach buses along Manchester Road stop nearby. The surgeries are on the ground floor.

Usually, yes. Over Grenoside and through Oughtibridge is around 15 minutes with free parking at the end. Getting to a city-centre clinic and parking rarely takes less than half an hour.
Yes. Implants are private treatment wherever you have them, and you can keep your NHS dentist for check-ups. We will write to them with the plan and scan report so your records are complete.
If you are going ahead with an implant, yes; placing one without knowing where the nerve and sinus are is not something we do. If the examination shows an implant is not suitable, the scan is not taken and you pay only the £100.
The £100 covers the examination and written opinion, so it is not refunded, but it is deducted from any alternative treatment we recommend, such as a bridge or denture.
