Why Doncaster patients make the 45-minute drive

More than a dozen practices across the Doncaster borough advertise implants, and their pages share a pattern. Most give a headline spread such as £1,800 to £20,000, offer a consultation somewhere between free and £250, and then say very little about who does the surgery, which implant system they use, or what the number actually includes. Almost none explain why one patient pays £2,400 and another £4,000 for what looks like the same tooth.

That is the gap this page fills. Deepcar Dental Care is a private practice in Deepcar, on the Sheffield side of the M1, and patients from Doncaster, Bentley, Armthorpe and Bawtry already come here for implant work; several say so in our Google reviews. Every implant is planned and placed by Dr Ibraheem Ijaz, who has placed more than 200 since 2022, and the same dentist fits the final crown. The fee list is public, the plan is written before anything starts, and the practice is open 8am to 8pm seven days a week, so a Doncaster patient can come on a Sunday morning when the M18 is empty.

What actually decides the price of a dental implant

An implant is a titanium screw roughly 4 mm wide and 10 mm long, smaller than the tip of your little finger. The metal is not where the money goes. The price is mostly planning, surgical time, laboratory work and the follow-up visits over the months that follow. Five things move it up or down.

How many implants, not how many teeth.

Three missing teeth in a row are usually replaced with two implants carrying a three-unit bridge, not three implants. A whole jaw is carried on four to six. The quote should count fixtures, and you should ask why that number.

How much bone you have.

The jaw shrinks once a tooth has gone, most of it in the first year. A CBCT scan (£150 here) measures the width and height to a fraction of a millimetre. If there is not enough, a graft adds from around £500 and a few months. If there is, nothing is added.

What sits on top.

A back tooth needs a strong crown; a front tooth needs a crown that matches its neighbour, and often a temporary tooth for the healing months so you are never without one. A custom-milled abutment costs more than a stock one and is usually worth it for a visible tooth.

The implant system.

We place Neodent, Straumann and Nobel Biocare, brands with decades of published results and parts any dentist can order in fifteen years' time. Unbranded copies save the clinic money, not you, and can leave you stuck if the crown ever needs replacing.

Who does each stage.

A practice that sends you to a visiting surgeon for placement and a different dentist for the crown has two fees to cover. Here one clinician does both, and the most complex cases are shared with our visiting implant clinician Mohammed Anabtawi rather than referred away.

Our single-implant price of £2,400 covers the fixture, the abutment, the crown and the routine follow-up appointments. It does not include the £100 consultation, which is taken off the bill when you go ahead, the CBCT scan, or grafting where the scan shows it is needed. You will know which of those apply to you before you pay for anything beyond the consultation.

Driving from Doncaster: M18, M1 and the A616

From Doncaster take the M18 to the M1, head north to junction 35A and leave on the A616 towards Stocksbridge. Come off the bypass for Stocksbridge and Deepcar and follow Manchester Road; the practice is at number 334, between Stocksbridge and Oughtibridge, with free parking directly outside. Allow 45 minutes, or a little more if you are leaving Doncaster between 4pm and 6pm. Avoiding the motorway, the A635 through Barnsley and the A628 through Penistone reach the same stretch of the A616. The surgeries are on the ground floor.

Questions, answered

Questions from Doncaster patients

Is it worth travelling from Doncaster when there are implant dentists in town?

Only you can weigh 45 minutes each way against what you get. What Deepcar offers that is hard to find locally is a published price, a named dentist who does every stage, a CBCT scanner in the building, and appointments on evenings and weekends. If a Doncaster practice gives you all of that in writing, you have a fair comparison.

How many trips from Doncaster will a single implant take?

Usually five or six visits over three to six months: consultation and scan, placement, a check a week or two later, a scan for the crown once the implant has integrated, fitting, and a review. We group visits where we can for patients who travel.

Why was I quoted £1,800 in Doncaster and £2,400 here?

Ask what the £1,800 includes. Very often it is the fixture alone, with the abutment, crown, scan and temporary tooth added later. Our £2,400 is the tooth complete. Compare the total you will hand over, not the first number on the page.

Can I have dental implants on the NHS in Doncaster?

Rarely. NHS implants are limited to specific clinical needs such as reconstruction after cancer surgery, trauma, or teeth that never formed, and go through hospital referral. For a tooth lost to decay or gum disease the route is private.

Does the £100 consultation fee come off the price?

Yes. If you go ahead with any implant treatment, the £100 is deducted from your plan. If we tell you that implants are not right for you, or you decide against it, the £100 has bought you a proper examination and an honest written opinion.

Will I need a bone graft, and how much does it add?

Only the CBCT scan can answer that. Grafting starts at around £500, a sinus lift at around £1,000, and both add healing time. Many single back-tooth cases need neither, and you will be told either way before you commit.
