Dronfield has more implant provision than a town of its size would suggest, from corporate chains to dedicated implant centres, and some of them publish proper fee lists. The pattern is to split the price: an implant "from £1,500" and a crown "from £1,000" on separate lines, so the tooth is really £2,500 or more, with grafts from around £450, sinus lifts up to £1,200 and a £50 consultation. What the Dronfield pages do not tell you is who places the implant, what a CBCT scan costs, or anything about year eight: what wears, what needs replacing, and what that costs. For something sold as permanent, that silence is odd.
Deepcar Dental Care is on the north side of Sheffield, in Deepcar near Stocksbridge, about 40 minutes from Dronfield by the M1 or through the city on the A61. The price here is one figure, £2,400 for a single tooth complete, and every implant is placed and restored by Dr Ibraheem Ijaz, who has placed over 200 since 2022. Hygiene and reviews are done in the same building, so the person who put the implant in is the person who checks on it. Fees are on the fees page; opening is 8am to 8pm, seven days.
Separate the two parts. The implant itself, the titanium fixture in the bone, is the part that lasts. Long-term studies of the major systems, the Straumann, Nobel Biocare and Neodent implants we use, put survival above nine in ten at ten years, and many go for decades. The crown on top is a piece of ceramic that you chew on thousands of times a day. Expect it to need attention or replacement somewhere between ten and fifteen years, sooner if you grind. That is normal wear, not failure, and the implant beneath usually stays put.
An implant has no nerve, so it cannot ache to warn you. Whatever goes wrong around it goes wrong quietly, and the first sign is usually bleeding when you brush or a slightly loose feeling. That is why the maintenance matters more than for a natural tooth, not less.
Daily: brush the crown like any tooth and clean the join with a small interdental brush or a water flosser. Every six months: a hygienist visit, £75 here, with instruments that do not scratch titanium. Every year: a check and a small X-ray, £15, to read the bone level. Every few years: screw-retained crowns and bridges can be unscrewed, cleaned and re-fitted, which is one reason we favour them over cemented ones. Budget for a replacement crown after a decade or so, priced at the time. That is the whole running cost.

Two ways, both about 40 minutes. The direct route is the A61 north up the Dronfield bypass, through Meadowhead and the city, out along Penistone Road and the A6102 through Hillsborough and Oughtibridge; Deepcar Dental Care is at 334 Manchester Road, a little before Stocksbridge. The alternative is the M1 from junction 29 (or the A617 from Chesterfield) north to junction 35A, then the A616 to Stocksbridge and back along Manchester Road. The M1 is longer in miles and more predictable in the week; the A61 is better on a Sunday. Free parking directly outside, ground-floor surgeries.

Weekdays, the M1 to junction 35A and the A616 is more reliable at around 40 minutes. On a Sunday morning the A61 through Sheffield is fine and a few miles shorter.
Yes, provided they use implant-safe instruments, which most do. We would still like to see you once a year for the X-ray, and we will send your Dronfield practice the details of the implant and crown.
No dentist can honestly guarantee a biological outcome for life. What we do put in writing is what happens if an implant fails to integrate in the early months, and the implant manufacturers stand behind their components. Ask us and you will get the answer on paper.
Not if it is planned for it. The crown is made with a flatter, tougher design, the bite is adjusted, and you wear a night guard. Grinders do get through crowns faster, and we will tell you that before you start.
It is priced at the time, and it is a fraction of the original treatment because the implant stays. With screw-retained crowns the old one is simply unscrewed and the new one fitted.
A check a few weeks after fitting, then once a year for an examination and X-ray, with hygiene visits every six months here or with your own dentist.
