Glossop’s private practices on the High Street and by the station list crowns and veneers, quote lifespans of ten to fifteen years, and publish no price for either. Nor do they say who does the treatment, what the crown is made of or what happens at each visit. Heading the other way into Greater Manchester, the prices climb and the parking disappears.
Deepcar Dental Care is 40 minutes east over the Woodhead Pass, on the Sheffield side of the hills. Crowns and veneers are £750 to £1,000 a tooth, agreed in writing. Dr Ibraheem Ijaz, who holds a postgraduate certificate in restorative and aesthetic dentistry, sees the case through from scan to polish. Because the drive matters, we plan both visits around it: tell us you are coming from Glossop and we will try to combine the examination and the preparation into one trip where it is safe to, and book the fitting on a weekend morning when the Pass is quiet. We open 8am to 8pm seven days a week and parking is free.

Preparing a tooth on the first visit is only sensible when the examination confirms the tooth is suitable and the gums are healthy; if not, we book a separate visit and say why. The treatment overview and the case for bonding on front teeth are on the veneers and crowns page.

Take the A628 Woodhead Pass east from Tintwistle, past the reservoirs and over the summit to the Flouch roundabout, then follow the A616 towards Sheffield. Leave at the Stocksbridge junction and follow Manchester Road (A6102) through Stocksbridge into Deepcar; we are at number 334, with free parking directly outside. About 40 minutes in clear weather. The Pass closes in heavy snow and high winds, so if the forecast is bad we will move your appointment without fuss; the Snake Pass and A57 through Sheffield is the longer alternative. Questions, answered
Yes. With photos sent ahead we can often examine and prepare on the first visit, and fit on the second a fortnight later, both on weekend mornings when the Woodhead is quiet.
We rebook you without charge. A well-fitted temporary will manage an extra week or two; if it comes off, a pharmacy temporary cement will hold it and we will talk you through it by phone.
Some Glossop patients do, but city prices for all-ceramic crowns tend to be higher and parking is difficult. Deepcar has free parking outside and a published fee.
Yes. Only local anaesthetic is used, so you are fine to drive. Your lip may feel numb for a couple of hours.
Both. A number of Glossop and Hadfield families come for routine care and use the trip for hygiene visits as well.
Lithium disilicate for front teeth and most premolars, for its translucency; zirconia for molars that take heavy load. Both are metal-free and made by a UK laboratory.
