Penistone has a cosmetic-leaning practice on the High Street and a couple of mixed NHS and private surgeries, and their websites list porcelain veneers and crowns among many treatments. None of them publish a price for either, describe the material or say which dentist does the work, and the High Street hours finish at 3pm on a Friday with nothing at the weekend.
Deepcar Dental Care is 15 minutes down the A616 and Manchester Road. Veneers and crowns are £750 to £1,000 a tooth, in writing before we start. Dr Ibraheem Ijaz, who holds a postgraduate certificate in restorative and aesthetic dentistry, designs, prepares and fits every case himself. We open 8am to 8pm, Monday to Sunday, with free parking outside. And because the drive is short, we can afford a longer first conversation about what you actually want the tooth to look like, which is where good results begin.

The shade you choose matters as much as the workmanship. Most people who pick the whitest tab on the guide regret it within a year; two shades brighter than your current teeth reads as healthy, five reads as false. If you want a brighter overall result, whitening the natural teeth first lets the veneers be matched to a lighter but still believable colour. Take the A616 south-east out of Penistone towards Stocksbridge, over the moor past the Flouch junction, and leave at the Stocksbridge exit.
