Huddersfield is unusual among the towns on this site because its leading private practice does publish prices, and some of them are lower than ours: a new patient examination around £64 and composite fillings from £85. It is fair to say so. What that practice and most others in Kirklees share is Monday to Friday daytime opening, closed lists for new NHS patients, and an emergency fee that starts at £200. NHS books in Kirklees open and close; Locala runs a community dental service for people with specific needs, and the NHS find-a-dentist search is the honest starting point for anyone who wants NHS care.
Deepcar Dental Care is on the Sheffield side of the Flouch, 35 to 40 minutes from Huddersfield. We are open 8am to 8pm seven days, the first examination is £85 with X-rays included, emergencies are £30, and every fee is on the fee page. The dentist who examines you does your treatment. For people in Holmfirth, Honley and New Mill we are often the nearest seven-day practice in either direction.
NHS bands. The cheapest option by a distance if you can get in. A band 1 check-up costs less than any private examination and band 2 covers fillings and extractions for one fixed charge. The limits are access, time per appointment and material choice: white fillings on back teeth are often private even at an NHS practice. If you have an NHS place in Huddersfield that sees you when you need it, our advice is to keep it.
A monthly capitation plan. Many Huddersfield practices offer a plan at roughly £15 to £25 a month covering examinations and hygiene, sometimes with a discount on treatment. It smooths the cost and suits people who like a standing order. On a single filling we may cost more than the cheapest practice in Kirklees; a three-surface molar filling here is 45 unhurried minutes with the same dentist who found it, shaped so your bite feels normal before you leave. Where we win is the rest: no membership, seven-day access, a £30 emergency rather than £200, and a written plan you can carry to any other dentist for a second opinion. The right answer depends on what you value. If it is the lowest fee on a weekday, Huddersfield has it. If it is being seen on a Sunday by a named dentist at a published price, that is what general dentistry here is built around.

Leave Huddersfield on the A616 through Honley and New Mill, continue over the moor to the Flouch roundabout, and stay on the A616 towards Stocksbridge. At the Stocksbridge bypass turn onto Manchester Road (A6102); Deepcar Dental Care is at number 334, on the left after Stocksbridge, with free parking outside. Mostly for the weekend and evening slots, which few Kirklees practices offer, and for a published price with X-rays included. If a weekday daytime appointment in Huddersfield suits you, that may well be the better choice.
It is a main road and gritted, but the section over the Flouch is high and exposed. Check the forecast on snowy days; we can move an appointment without charge if the road is bad.
