I called Friday evening to see if they had emergency appointments due to serious tooth pain. They were very polite and willing to accommodate. Due to me being a 45-minute drive away — the closest dentist I could find on Google that was open — they assured me they would see me when I got there. Upon arrival the staff were so polite and welcoming. The expertise and advice before the procedure was amazing. Definitely worth the trip to get the pain away. 100% recommend them.

Why a 45-minute drive from Doncaster makes sense for aligners
Doncaster is better served for aligners than most towns its size, and several practices publish prices: roughly £2,000 for one arch and £3,000 for both is typical, with cheaper express options for very small movements. What the pages share is silence on the part that matters most after you have paid. They name a brand of retainer, and stop. None say how long the result lasts, what makes it fail, or who you would actually be seeing at each visit.
We get Doncaster patients partly because of our reviews and partly because they have done the sums. At Deepcar Dental Care straightening starts at £1,495 per arch with retainers included, the practice is open 8am to 8pm seven days so a review can be tacked onto a Sunday, and the same dentist sees you every time. Forty-five minutes is a real cost; this page is about making sure the result is worth it.
Teeth remember where they were: relapse, retainers and the long view
Each tooth sits in its socket held by a ligament, a web of fibres that runs from the root into the bone and the gum. Aligners work by stretching those fibres on one side and compressing them on the other; the bone remodels, and the tooth moves about a quarter of a millimetre per aligner. The fibres in the gum are the slow part. They keep their old tension for a year or more after the tooth has stopped moving, which is why a freshly straightened tooth will drift back towards where it started within days if nothing holds it.
So the honest answer to how long it lasts is: as long as you wear a retainer. With nightly wear the result should last for the rest of your life. Without one, most people see the lower front teeth begin to crowd again within a year or two, and the same is true of teeth straightened with childhood braces, which is why so many of our adult patients have been through this before.
What shortens the life of a result:
Stopping retainers early.
A cracked or warped retainer.
Gum disease.
Age itself.
Losing a back tooth.
For people who know they will not manage nightly wear, a thin wire bonded behind the front teeth holds them for years without any effort, and it is an option we discuss at the final appointment. A removable retainer is thinner than a bank card; a fixed one you forget is there.

Questions, answered
Teeth straightening: questions from Doncaster patients
How many trips from Doncaster will treatment take?
Usually seven to nine visits over four to nine months: examination, scan, fitting, reviews every six to eight weeks and the retainer fitting. We space reviews as widely as is safe for patients who travel.
Do Doncaster patients really travel this far for aligners?
Yes; our reviews include several. The usual reasons are the published price, seeing one dentist throughout, and being able to book on a weekend when the drive is quicker.
Are retainers really included, and for how long do they last?
Yes, they are in the £1,495. A removable retainer lasts two to five years with care; replacements are priced on our fees page. A bonded wire can last a decade or more.
I had braces as a teenager and my teeth have moved. Will it happen again?
Only if you stop wearing retainers again. The relapse you have now is the normal result of teeth without retention, not a sign that your teeth are unusual.
Can I whiten my teeth at the same time?
Not during, because aligners and whitening trays compete for the same hours. Straighten first, then whiten; our whitening page explains the options and prices.
Does a missing tooth affect how long the result lasts?
Yes. Teeth drift into gaps and pull the front teeth with them, so we usually suggest replacing the tooth once straightening is finished. Our implants for Doncaster page explains the timing.
