Teeth moved by aligners are held in place by nothing but the retainer for the first year, because the fibres of the gum that anchor each tooth keep their old tension for many months and quietly pull the tooth back. After that, it is age doing the pulling; lower front teeth crowd naturally through adult life whether or not you ever had treatment. So retention is not a phase, it is a habit.
Clear trays like a thin aligner, fitted on the day your last aligner comes out. Wear them day and night for the first few months apart from eating and brushing, then every night from then on. Clean them with a soft brush and cool water or a retainer cleaning tablet, never toothpaste, which scratches them cloudy, and never hot water, which warps them in seconds. Keep them in the case when they are out; the two commonest fates of a retainer are a napkin in a restaurant and a dog. They last two to five years and a replacement is priced on our fees page. If yours stops clicking firmly onto the teeth, it has warped or the teeth have shifted, and either way you should come in.
A fine wire bonded behind the front teeth, invisible from the front, that holds them without any effort from you. We suggest it for people who know they will not manage nightly wear, and for lower front teeth that were badly crowded. The trade: you need to clean under it with floss threaders or interdental brushes, and if a section of the bond comes away the teeth on that side can start moving, so it needs checking at each routine examination.
Treatment can be paid at 0% over 6 to 18 months, or over up to 60 months at 10.9% APR representative via Tabeo, subject to status, as explained on the fees page, and the total is agreed in writing first.

Leave Penistone on the A616 towards Sheffield, past the Flouch turning, and take the Stocksbridge exit.
